All-round training...

Graduated at the Dutch Film School in Amsterdam, majoring in Scriptwriting, Directing and Editing. His graduation project, "Outlook", a short drama starring Jacques Commandeur, Marina de Graaf, Kees Prins and Arjan Ederveen was broadcasted by the NPS and selected as the official Dutch Entry for the European festival of student films in Munich.

Features and Commercials...

Having worked as a film editor for various Television networks and as a sound editor on a number of Dutch features, "On good Hope", "Mother is Mad" and "Speaking of Happiness", he specialized as an editor of commercials and promotional films. He also started writing and directing these productions, first as a second director with one of the leading Dutch commercial producers, but after a couple of years as freelance director. He produced a series of commercials and corporate films for clients such as Philips, Ahold, KLM, KPN, ABN-AMRO, McDonalds and the New Straits Times. Several productions received International awards. A commercial for KLM was awarded best commercial of the year.

International documentaries...

In addition to these promotional programmes, he produced several international documentaries. He directed some episodes of the award-winning documentary series "Great Castles of Europe" for Discovery Channel, and produced, directed and edited a 13-part documentary series for RTM in Malaysia: “For a bowl of Rice”.

Television soaps & fiction...

Fiction kept his interest however. For John de Mol productions, he directed a number of television soaps, “Plantage Allee”, “Foreign Affairs” (an Argentinean co-production) and some episodes of the popular series “Medical Centre West”.

During the last decennium, he developed a specialization in producing promotional and recruitment films for the Royal Dutch Army and Navy. Several of these programmes received awards, the most prestigious of which was the "Grand Award" at the festival of Rome for "Infantrymen" a promotional film for the Dutch Infantry museum.

Interactive & what's next..?!

Regularly, these programmes form the basis for interactive media, such as “Mission UNDO”, a programme used for testing the humanitarian skills of Dutch military personnel before they are deployed to operations all over the world. The last couple of years he also participated in reality programmes. Projects like the edit of “Beautiful” for the Belgium production company Kanakna and in the Netherlands the Multi-camera-direction of "the Golden Cage" for TALPA Productions.

In addition to the development of a number of documentaries, a new feature “End of the Line”  is currently being developed as a co-production between the Oscar nominated production company from Amsterdam, ID Film (Anton Smit), and the English production company Parallax Films (Sally Hibbin/Ken Loach) from London.
